Financial Code of Conduct
UOS is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards regarding educational loans and ensuring transparency in all interactions with students and lenders. To protect students and uphold fairness, the Graduate School adheres to the following principles:
1. Freedom of Choice
UOS does not require students to use specific lenders or limit their options. Students have the freedom to select any lender they prefer, and loan applications are processed without bias or restriction.
2. No Preferred Lender List
The Graduate School does not endorse or recommend external lenders. It also does not maintain a preferred lender list.
3. Equal Loan Processing
Loan applications are processed through any lender selected by the student. There is no delay or refusal to certify loans based on the chosen lender or guaranty agency.
4. No Solicitation or Gifts from Lenders
Employees of the Graduate School are prohibited from soliciting or accepting gifts, services, or compensation of more than nominal value from any lender in exchange for advantages related to educational loans.
5. No Consulting or Contracts with Lenders
Staff members who have responsibilities related to educational loans cannot enter into consulting agreements or contracts with lenders to provide services associated with educational loans.
6. Restrictions on Advisory Board Participation
Employees who serve on advisory boards or commissions related to educational loans are forbidden from receiving any form of compensation or gifts from lenders in connection with their participation.
7. Prohibition on Staffing Services by Lenders
External lender representatives are not permitted to provide staffing services to the Graduate School or engage in any activities that give the appearance of representing UOS.
8. Clear Identification and Representation
Employees, agents, or representatives of external lenders must not identify themselves as employees or agents of UOS when communicating with students.
9. No Assigned Lenders
The Graduate School does not assign loans to particular lenders or encourage students to use specific lenders through packaging or other methods.
10. No “Opportunity Loans”
UOS does not participate in or offer “opportunity loans,” as defined by state regulations, to ensure fairness and protect students from potentially harmful financial products.
